Now We Hear The Sound Of Cells

New ultra-sensitive listening devices could let doctors hear what’s going wrong in the body just like engineers can diagnose your engine problems by sound.
German scientists have just invented the ‘nano-ear’, a new device which uses the vibrations from tiny gold particles held in levitation within a tightly focused set of laser beams, which are used to pick up extremely quiet waves. Basically, the normal human ear can only hear sound waves between 20-20,000 Hz, but with the new ‘nano-ear’, humans are able to hear sounds at a much less/more frequency. When body cells are hit with infra-red, they let out a shriek, which can be heard using the ‘nano-ears’.
Already, scientists have found that cancer cells emit a more distorted sound then healthy cells. This new invention could be huge for the medical world, detecting cancer or even less serious illnesses would be simple, and curing it faster and more efficient.
With the new ‘nano-ear’, how long will it be before diagnosis is merely a doctor saying, “Now, let’s just have a listen to your body cells.”?
